GYROKINESIS, created by former Houston Ballet principal dancer Juliu Horvath, was originally developed for injury rehabilitation. Blending elements of yoga, tai chi, swimming, and dance, it uses spiral spinal movements and guided breathing to connect the whole body, expanding outward from the core and creating space within. Through fluid sequences of forward bends, backbends, rotations, and side bends, the practice enhances flexibility, strength, and coordination. For tango dancers, it helps stabilize the axis, strengthen the core and legs, improve turns and embrace quality, and prevent lower back and hip discomfort—making it ideal for both training and recovery.
